Within your eyes: Questions for my heavenly parents

If I were to look into your eyes, 
I wonder the things I might see?
Would they glint with the light of compassion?
Would they hold disappointment so deep?

Would I see there, my own broken body,
reflect in your tears as they fall.
Or would I see pride, and a love for the man,
who stands here in spite of it all. 

Would your eyes judge the path I have chosen,
allude to me squandering my life?
Or would they reveal, with an unspoken truth,
that your empathy matches my strife?

Would I feel all my troubles dissolving?
Would I sense absolution prevail?
Would your eyes show me warmth of incredible love,
and forgiveness for all of my fails?

If I were to look into your eyes- whenever that day be my time -
I’ll pray that I’ll see, whilst you’re looking at me,
a place that is there by your side.
